Michel Loreau is an expert on the system dynamics of ecological systems, their relationships to human systems, and mathematical modeling of their coupled evolution. He has been active in linking policy to the science of biodiversity. He is currently Director of the Theoretical and Experimental Ecology Station at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in Moulis, France. His prior positions include Professor at Pierre and Marie Curie University and Professor and Canada Research Chair in Theoretical Ecology at McGill University. His distinctions include membership in Academia Europeaa and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and the Per Brinck Oikos Award.
